Keynote: Big Data is Here! – Embrace It!
It is estimated that every day, 2.5 quintillion bytes of data are created and introduced to worldwide networks. This data comes from digital pictures, videos, posts to social media sites, intelligent sensors (such as health monitors), purchase transaction records, cell phone GPS signals and countless more. This is not just Big Data, it is “huge data.”.
There is great interest both in the commercial and in the research communities around the topic – it is not just a buzz word used by writers and marketers!
It has been predicted that “analyzing Big Data will become a key basis of competition, underpinning new waves of productivity growth, innovation, and consumer surplus.”
Open Data is the concept that certain data (e.g., government) should be freely available to everyone to use and republish as they wish, without restrictions from copyright, patents or other mechanisms of control.
In this keynote Bebo will describe how Big Data and Open Data are becoming a major driving force in enterprise IT, Web development, and Web Management and how organizations not embracing Big Data Analytics and Data Science are doomed to be lost in the current data deluge.
