At the time when the merger between the two global firms DNV and GL was communicated (late 2012), DNV already had a fairly well function digital workplace.
Katrine Sundbye saw to that the digital workplace played a key role in the joint planning of the execution of the merger, as colleagues across the two companies on various levels in the two organisations soon were able to work together (using externally enabled collaboration solutions like video conferencing, project rooms, Lync) on merger planning projects.
After the merger was formalized the digital workplace has continued to play an important role in the integration of the new company, as it connects people across legacy companies and geographies.
